The assembly of intermediate steering shafts is often significantly impeded by tight engine compartment packaging. Tools cannot be applied, fasteners are difficult to access and assembly times are correspondingly high. The result: limited efficiency and process reliability.

Willi Elbe developed a form-fit, self-centering interface with an integrated assembly aid (poka-yoke). The design enables tool-free one-hand assembly even outside the field of vision and ensures a play-free, highly precise connection.

The case demonstrates one of Willi Elbe’s core capabilities: customer-specific solutions that efficiently and robustly optimize not only the product itself, but also the entire production process.
